Ingredients
- 4 large Gala apples, peeled
- Pure Canola Oil, for frying
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 large egg white
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups Hungry Jack® Complete Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix (Just Add Water), divided
CINNAMON CREAM SYRUP
- 1 cup Hungry Jack® Original Syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Evaporated Milk
Preparation Instructions
- SLICE apples into 1/2-inch thick round slices, about 3 per apple. Cut 1/2-inch wide rings out of apple slices, using various sized biscuit cutters. Discard circle containing core.
- HEAT oil to 350°F in a deep fryer. Combine sugar and cinnamon in small bowl.
- WHISK egg white, water, vanilla and 1 cup pancake mix in a small deep bowl. Place remaining pancake mix in a shallow dish. Coat apple rings in dry pancake mix. Shake off excess. Dip in pancake batter. Remove with fork, letting excess batter drip off. Fry in small batches, turning apple rings once, until golden brown on each side. Sprinkle with reserved cinnamon sugar. Serve immediately with cinnamon cream syrup.
- CINNAMON CREAM SYRUP
- STIR syrup and cinnamon in small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to boil. Simmer 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes. Stir in evaporated milk. Serve warm, drizzling over apple rings or in a bowl for dipping.
- Do not let oil get too hot or rings may burn. If rings are cooking too quickly, lower temperature.
